definitely consider Chipman.
The Village of Chipman is located within an hour and a half of the cities of
Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton. All three have excellent shopping,
historic sites, a host of cultural and entertainment options and all the other
amenities, including one of the finest art galleries east of Montreal and live
theatre.
Recreation
The 1,615 residents of Chipman have made the Community Centre Arena their hub of
activity. In addition to seating approximately 650 people, it also houses a
fitness centre and aerobics studio. Ice hockey and skating are popular during
the winter, with both minor and men's hockey teams and figure skating for the
family. The grounds also have baseball diamonds with teams for all ages and
level. The village provides tennis courts, mini-golf, and an outdoor swimming
pool with programs for all ages.
There is a popular summer camp for kids, and nature trails for the whole family
to enjoy walking, hiking, and biking. Canoeing, fishing, boating, and camping
are also available. And for the avid golfer, beautiful Ridgeview Greens is
located just between Minto and Chipman.
Employment
The two major employers are NB Coal and the JD Irving Woodlands. Other residents
are employed mainly in local shops. Some residents choose to commute to
Fredericton for a larger, more diverse job market.
