Inpatient Service

The inpatient service at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital provides psychiatric diagnostic and treatment services to adolescent and adult patients (voluntary and involuntary), suffering from acute psychiatric disorders and requiring hospital care. Included within the 35 bed-unit, is a 5-bed Concentrated Nursing Care area for severely ill patients.

The inpatient unit provides the full range of psychiatric investigations and treatment and a variety of innovative programs involving psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and psychiatric nurses.

Day Therapy Program
The goal of this program is to reduce inpatient stay or to prevent inpatient admission. Whenever possible the program provides an alternative to inpatient care, and makes the transitional step from inpatient care to the community easier.

Consultation Services
Consultation services are provided to all patient care areas of Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital by the appropriate mental health professional.
