Surgical Services are offered on a continuum of care that begins in the surgeon's office and continues throughout the patient's stay. General Surgery is available in many of the region's community hospitals. The Oromocto Public Hospital has developed an active Day Surgery Program. The Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for specialized surgical care. Specialist services are available on-call 24-hours per day and include:

• Anesthesia • Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery • General Surgery • Gynecology • Ophthalmology • Oral and Dental Surgery • Orthopedic Surgery • Plastic Surgery • Thoracic Surgery • Urology • Vascular Surgery

The delivery of surgical patient care is enhanced and supported by a variety of specialty programs and departments, including:

•	Surgical Preadmission Clinic
•	Acute Pain Service
•	Operating Theatres & Recovery Rooms
•	An 8 bed Intensive Care Unit
•	Inpatient and Day Surgical Nursing Units
•	Patient Education Services
•	Vascular Lab
•	Specialty Surgical Clinics
