Library Services
With new advances in medicine, new procedures, new
programs – keeping up to date is an important part of
any health care organization. The Library Services
Department is responsible for providing staff with the
latest information. The Dr. Garfield Moffatt Health
Sciences Library at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional
Hospital is the organization's main information
provider, with more than 1000 books and audiovisuals,
300 journals and access to numerous information
databases and multimedia programs. Other library
resources are also available at the Oromocto Public
Hospital in Oromocto and The Upper River Valley Hospital
in Waterville.
The library is a support centre for education programs
throughout the region, including the training of medical
students and residents through the Dalhousie University
Medical School’s Family Medicine Teaching Unit.
Information at the library is available to all River
Valley Health staff, local health care providers and
university students.
The Patient Library
The patient library is part of the Health Sciences
Library at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
This service provides River Valley Health patients and
families with access to reliable and up to date health
information. For those unable to visit the Library,
information packages can be prepared for mailing or pick
up.
A Patient and Family Access Computer is now available in
the Health Sciences Library, 4NW at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Regional Hospital. The primary purpose of the computer is to
provide patients and their families with access to e-mail
and the World Wide Web for communication and research
purposes.
The computer workstation is available Monday - Friday
during posted library hours. Visit the library for more
information or contact the library at (506)452-5432.
